Bags by Evi Skarvelaki

A good way to escape trivial choices is to go for handmade products. Handmade bags, , jewelries, clothes and shoes are often presented through social networks. This is how I found and was astonished by some interesting bags made by Evi Skarvelaki.

She is self-taught and she has been working as a professional bag designer and maker since 2004.

Goni: What materials do you use?

Evi: Fabrics, leather, buttons, curtains…

Goni: What inspires you?

Evi: Basically nature, but also my memories as a child.

Goni: Can a bag be the dominant element in an outfit?

Evi: You have to base the outfit on the bag.

Goni: Do you have a famous designer’s bag in your wishlist?

Evi: I don’t buy other people’s bags anymore but If I did it would be a bag by Prada or by Moschino.

Goni: Describe the must bag that every woman has to own.

Evi: Although I love clutches, I would say a big  boho bag in a   shade of grey to carry all day long.

Goni: Why are we obsessed with bags?

Evi:  I guess because the bag is the first thing you notice on us and it characterizes you, you can’t hide it.

Goni: Which celebrity would you like to carry one of your bags?

Evi: I would prefer simple every women to hold my bags and feel like celebrities.

Goni: Can men carry bags or is it only a woman’s privilege?

Evi: Of course they can! Although my male audience prefer my tobacco cases.

Goni: Do you make bags by order?

Evi: Of course!

Goni: Have you ever been asked to make a bag that you didn’t approve of?

Evi: I won’t make a bag that is alien to my style. I can change the fabric of any of my designs, or the size.

Goni: What can we find in your bag?

Evi: A wallet, keys, a small pocket with earrings, tissues, a tobacco case, sunglasses, a usb, a camera plus a pocket with emergency stuff (painkillers, gums, hairbands, hairpins etc)
